139: ONE DAY MORE

Today's pretty special for a lot of us. Today marks the last day of rehearsals for Atomic Prom, the showcase I've been rehearsing for for like the past month because tomorrow... dun dun dun... it's showtime! All the long hours of choreo, music rehearsals, blocking, acting games... it all leads to this. You only have this one moment to live and be the character you have to be... I'm in the chorus but fuck yeah, I'm chorus. Let's rock it. :) I'm actually in a good mood now... I was pretty blah awhile ago. Besides, I am in a constant tussle with my friend Marek on who's gonna be the best dressed chorus. So far, he's leading. I really like his Act 1 and Act 2 student outfits. But no one can top my announcer costume, and my prom costume. Thank you ukay ukay in Frisco and New York. Biyatch, wadup?!?! Wait so actually it's tied. 2-2

Anyway, it was a pretty fun sitz probe today in my house where we got to rehearse the numbers with our band. CJ is the best. And really, when it's live music, it's like the show transforms. The energy is different. I just hope we get to be on top of the notes because sometimes, pumapaltos talaga... and kamusta naman ang learning one of the songs two days before the actual show. Epic fail!

Today, I also got to see the stage adjustment of the first few numbers of Paris 1832, and Act 2 of the Tech Run in the time that I could... given that we had all day rehearsals. My good friends Gians and Lifecoach are part of it. Bulings is too. And Farida. Directed of course by Ana Abad Santos who is one of the most promising directors out there right now. Imagine this... going to Onstage in the morning to hopefully catch a run, they started a bit late, then after sitz probe before transferring to Manansala, I dragged some of my workshopmates to Onstage again. At least we got to catch the Tech Run of Act 2. Good job guys! So proud of you all. :)

Yun na oh... it's the classic Les Mis formation, spearheaded by Mark, and behind him are Gians and Bulings... yes nangunguna sa balota. Iboto :P

138: STREAMLINE

Been super busy rehearsing for our showcase, Atomic Prom, which will be at the Manansala Building, 38th Floor, today May 30... Of course in the middle of it all, I'm still sick... but thankfully, as I type this entry, not so much anymore. Phew... Had a very productive day yesterday actually. Met with my beloved Tita Toots and Jonjon to streamline everything for Wedding Singer - which of course opens in October of this year. Super exciting things are gonna happen :) Exciteeeeeeennngggg....

And at the very least, my life will have some long "short-term" direction again post-New York trip this coming June 10 where I'll be gone for a month... After which, I come back to work that I love. And when you love your work, and when you're passionate about it, that makes all the difference. Can't wait to do behind-the-scenes stuff for theater again, and get my writing into full gear. That is after all the reason why I left the corporate world... so today vacation, tomorrow... salvation :)

137: Disagreement

Hayyy nako. Moms. What they can never seem to do is communicate what they really mean. If all they want is to spend time with you, they have to give you this whole lecture about how your life is going in shambles, you're reverting back to your old ways, you're becoming disrespectful, basically scolding you when all they really have to say is... I wanna spend time with you. That's all. Geez. Whatever happened to open lines of communication...? Maybe that's why, as teenagers, most of suck in this aspect and consequently, it makes our relationships suffer. Ayayay.

134 - 136: SICK AND DOWN THE WIRE

I am officially sick. All the stress and fatigue of rehearsals seems to be getting to me. I now have a fully developed cough and an annoying cold and I'm hoping to get better before our show on Sunday. Seriously, I'd hate to miss out because I'm down with a fever... but knowing me, I'd still probably do the show even if I was already on my deathbed. I dunno... theater does that to me somehow. Commitment kung commitment.

Apparently, Fashion Week opened yesterday. And SM was the opening show. I couldn't attend because I was at rehearsals for Atomic Prom all night. Wow.... tough! After helping organize the past two SM shows, and attending and covering fashion week since 2007, I am actually out of the loop with this one. I dunno... siguro napurga ako sa fashion so I'm taking a break? Haven't been able to read the newspapers too so I haven't really seen any supplements or ads promoting it - except for that Robin Padilla billboard along Edsa. I think he's the new endorser of Jag.

So in reality, my life is really changing I think. I need to do some serious goal-setting and figure out what I want to do with my life. But maybe I should also take this opportunity to relax and enjoy life. I haven't really had a break. Circumstance seems to throw me immediately into the mouth of responsibility. And even when there's no circumstance, I pressure myself to find something to get stressed about. Take it easy! Maybe this is why I'm sick too...

131-133: 2000 and OBESE

It's been an exciting past couple of days for yours truly. We are at the thick of our rehearsals for our workshop showcase, Atomic Prom which shows at the Manansala this weekend. And consequently, my body has been succumbing to stress and fatigue from all the torrid dancing. Robbie's choreoing us this whole week, and my weekend was spent in Cla's house in Commonwealth, alternating between our sauna rehearsal space and her super nice and comfortable house.

I guess my biggest mistake was that I didn't change my shirt the whole day despite the drench-load of sweat and that proved to be my undoing. Yes ladies and gentlemen, I am sick. There is blood on my phlegm - probably due to a damaged throat - which makes me wonder if I haven't been singing right throughout this rehearsal. Baka I've been using my throat instead of my diaphragm. Or maybe, it's really coz I didn't change my shirt.

Apparently several of my workshopmates are sick too... One week to go. Let's do this!

130: Reprise

Yesterday, I visited the folks at SM so I could properly turn over to my boss Ayen everything that's needed to be done for Boys Teens. Wow, I'm actually out - for the long haul. It's weird. And I was on a visitor's ID. Double weird! Caught up with some of my friends before my Cibo dinner with Robbie and Santi and we ended up discussing a bunch load of stuff. Back to SM. Weird. I am no longer an employee. Free as a bird. But also kind of naninibago. It will take some time getting used to. For sure.

Shortly after, I attended workshops at Manansala, then a bonding inuman with Steak and Lifecoach after checking out my favorite band, Juan Pablo Dream in Saguijo. I love them so much. I seriously would've gotten them for my party if they didn't cost like a fortune. Someday, I will throw a funk soul party and everyone is required to wear shaggy wigs. Hehe. Jologs, Michael fuckin Manotoc, and Martin followed after. Random but totally fun :)
