DAY 49: Lil' MIss Sunshine

Moments... Precious moments. They come once in a blue moon and when they do, it makes for good emotional fodder and memories that anchor you through and through. You look back at them and go... oh ya, remember when... way back when... and in good tidings, history is formed which at the very least becomes your common, undeniable, and indefatigable horizon. History unites you through the years.

This is Gabbi, Ate Carissa's second daughter. And I'm thrilled to be Ninong once again. Yesterday was her baptism at the St. Andrew's Church along Reposo street, and she was just the cutest little baby thing. I'm thrilled to reprise my role as a ninong to Ate's second kid. I swear and vow that I will take care of her, and spoil her to death, and nurture her, and be her friend when she grows up.

After doing work duties, I had lunch with mom at Polo before deploying again in the afternoon. We didn't really get to talk much because she was crisis-managing something from the phone - something to do with Pangasinan. There you go... I've officially lost mom, just like I lost dad way back when. She's heavily entrenched in the inescapable prison of politics - the dirtiest field of all. It's really just me now... left to fend for myself and maintaing some semblance of home - which I now seek out in friends.

I also caught the last 2 Saturday shows of RENT... After doing my store inspections, I headed to the RCBC theater and was able to catch half of Act 2. From the point where Nicole starts to sing Goodbye Love... I was hagulgol and all tears 'til the very end... through I'll Cover You Reprise, and even during America coz the energy was so good and I was thoroughly overwhelmed. Wow, the run is ending later today... it's gonna be really emotional for the whole team. Shoot, I don't even wanna think about it yet.

Merienda:

1 Longga Burger from Rockwell
*Yes the one from Bora. Flown straight in. Yum!

Dinner:
1 glass of sweetened soymilk from North Park

Midnight Snack:
Beer from Dubplate

*really nice place. It's the Cubao X of Makati. The crowd is extreme which is what makes it really fascinating. You have power gays dressed to the nines. You have socialites. You have rockers. You have indie scenester. Saw a lot of the streetwear community and I was surprised to see Shepard Fairey's artwork being displayed there. Shepard is the originator of the streetwear label called Obey. I think his DJ was there too. There are apparel stores shooting up left and right, and I hear there's gonna be a 20s barbershop, and vinyl record store. How cool is that? It's nice to see a new spot in the Metro.

Caesar Salad w/ Chicken Breast from Manila Peninsula

*After about an hour in Dubplate, I headed to Manila Pen to join Mela and Gege who were having an understated, sit-down dinner. I was really more in a sit down and talk kind of mood coming from North Park, so my feet were getting all antsy in Dubplate - though i'd like to go back there someday.
